VEMAG AG, a publishing group with one of the widest circulations in Germany, brought SIRUP on board at the beginning of 2015 for a strategic digital transformation. The new online publishing platform, and the relaunch of the associated websites, remediate VEMAG's online technology landscape and equip the publishing house for future tasks in the digital markets. From now on, VEMAG will win over customers with its newly created narrative cosmos and a unique user experience.
The holding site leads the way
SIRUP brings this initiative to life on the new VEMAG site. After an intensive joint concept phase, SIRUP designed a contemporary, digital look. The new design shapes VEMAG's image as personable and confident. With concise storytelling and attractive infographics, the publishing house can engage and excite its (predominantly B2B) customers in a whole new way. The infographics illustrate the internationality of the publishing group and help convey abstract production and corporate information using intriguing comparisons. An example: The publisher's annual transportation of 5 billion sheets of paper is translated into a tangible number of pallets (35,000) or elephants (4,000).
Further functional highlights, such as the freelancer address book and an efficient search feature, complement the informative site. The online publishing platform now provides a solid foundation for all of the company's existing and future websites, with global rights management.
Flexible and sustainable system architecture
The core of the solution is a multi-client capable content management system based on TYPO3, including rights management, asset database, news database and title database. Other features include:
- Uniform integration of SEO tags
- Global search based on Apache Solr incl. faceting and autosuggestion
- Online address book for service providers
- Dynamic display of the publishing program
- Robust, responsive frontend for all possible devices formats
- Seamless integration of a newsletter solution
The first company site symbolizes a successful emergence into the digital markets, both externally and to VEMAG employees. At the same time, the realignment provides a good foundation for communication, ideal for events, presentations and social media channels. As the digital lead agency, SIRUP will continue to accompany the publishing group in an advisory capacity – actively and jointly communicating digital readiness, providing excellent corporate storytelling and accelerating its early steps in content marketing.
